A bloody robbery ignites a
showdown
between a brilliant L.A. cop and a criminal genius. De Niro plays a
master
thief with highly skilled partners (Val Kilmer and Tom Sizemore) whose
latest heist draws the attention of Pacino, playing a seasoned Los
Angeles
detective whose investigation reveals that cop and criminal lead
similar
lives. Both are so devoted to their professions that their personal
lives
are a disaster. |
Morgan Freeman plays detective
who has one week before retiring and Brad Pitt plays a young detective
his replacement. They are the detectives who skillfully track down the
serial killer (Kevin Spacey) who forces each of his victims to die by
acting
out one of the seven deadly sins, unaware that he has been closing in
on
them, as well. The most viscerally frightening and disturbing homicidal
maniac picture since The Silence of the Lambs. |
| Copycat is terse, involving
thriller
about a killer who is copycatting the crimes of history's most
notorious
serial killers. Young San Francisco police inspector Ruben Goetz
(Dermot
Mulroney) is teamed with brilliant force vet, M.J. Monahan (Holly
Hunter),
a diplomatic, no-nonsense cop who must buck the system in order to find
a killer who is copycatting the crimes of history's most notorious
serial
killers. |
Murphy plays an unorthodox hostage
negotiator for the San Francisco Police Department on the trail of the
criminal who killed his partner. Paired up with a bright new trainee
played
by Michael Rapaport, Murphy uses both
his skills and his anger to hunt down the killer. A competent action
movie with some standout moments such as a car chase culminating in a
cable
car shoot-out on the streets of San Francisco, and Michael Wincott's
frightening performance as the villain. |
A powerhouse performance by Denzel
Washington fuels this brutal urban police drama in which a rookie
narcotics
cop learns the hard way that even good cops can go very, very bad.
Washington
plays veteran detective Alonzo Harris, a self proclaimed "wolf
among
wolves," eager to teach his rookie partner Jake (Ethan Hawke) that
normal
rules don't apply on the mean streets of Los Angeles. |
