Basic Sugar Cookies

Ingredients:

1 cup butter, softened

1 cup sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon lemon juice

3 cups flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

pinch salt
 


Preparation:
  • In a mixer or food processor mix butter and sugar until smooth. Add eggs, vanilla and lemon juice. Mix well.
  • Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. 
  • Combine flour mixture to butter mixture and form dough. 
  • Wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill at least 1 hour. 
  • When ready to bake preheat the oven to 350 F (180 C). 
  • Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut cookies. 
  • Place cookies on lightly greased cookie sheet and bake for about 10 to 12 minutes or until golden. 
  • Cool on cookie sheet for 5 minutes, than transfer to wire rack. 
  • Decorate.
