Visit Egyptian Pyramids

Ancient Egyptian pyramids are truly one of the most iconic sights on the planet. According to the archaeologists, Egyptian pyramids were constructed as tombs (burial monuments associated with royal solar and stellar cults) for the country's Pharaohs and their families. Majority of them were built during the Old and Middle Kingdom periods.

The earliest known Egyptian pyramids are found at Saqqara, a huge ancient burial ground, northwest of Egyptian city of Memphis. The earliest among these is believed to be the Pyramid of Djoser built circa 2630–2610 BC during the Third Dynasty. This pyramid and its surrounding complex are generally considered to be the world's oldest monumental structures constructed of dressed masonry.

The Giza Pyramid Complex is at the edges of the Western Desert, approximately 9 km (5 mi) west of the Nile River in the city of Giza, and about 13 km (8 mi) southwest of the city centre of Cairo.

The Pyramid of Khufu also known as the Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest and largest of three pyramids in Giza.
