André Rieu is a rare classical music phenomenon. His lively and colourful orchestral presentations have attracted worldwide audiences to classical music that may not initially have been drawn to that genre. He and his attractive Johann Strauss Orchestra began in 1987 with twelve members and giving its first concert on 1 January 1988. Over the years Johann Strauss Orchestra has expanded dramatically, nowadays performing with 60 musicians. Johann Strauss Orchestra is the largest private orchestra in the world.

André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra have performed throughout Europe, North America, South America, Japan and Australia.
