TO MAKE
THIS COUNTRY WINDOW BASKET YOU WILL NEED:
Wired paper ribbon (or any other ribbon you like)
Oblong twig and moss basket, 21" x 7", 7" tall
Floral foam to fit inside basket
1 pkg. green dyed bulb foliage
7 stems lemon leaf
1 bunch dyed sabel palm fronds
4 stems isolepsis
6 stems plumosus
4 pods dried okra
3 dried sunflower stems
3 silk or dried hydrangea blooms
3 mahogany pods
6 sprays red pepper berries with foliage
5 sprigs caspia
Spanish moss
Floral wire
4" wood picks
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Cut foam to fit inside basket and hot glue in place.
2. Combine the bulb foliage and the sabel palm foliage. Divide into 4
groups, roughly equal in size, mixing the colors. Cut first group to
14" and place a row across the back of the basket. Cut the second group
to 13", the third group to 12", and the fourth group to 11". Make three
more rows of foliage, starting with the next tallest and ending with
the shortest.
3. Trim the sunflower stems to 13", 12" and 11". Place tall sunflower
at center back, medium sunflower halfway between center and right end,
and short sunflower at center front.
4. Place mahogany pods, one at far left, one at center front, and one
3" from right end.
5. Place okra pods, one to left of center sunflowers, one just to right
of tall sunflower, one just to right of short sunflower, and one at
right back.
6. Place isolepsis, one at left back, one at middle center, and one at
middle right.
7. Use lemon leaves, pepper berry foliage, and plumosus to fill in
around the foliage.
8. Place hydrangeas at front left, front to right of center and right
front.
9. Place pepper berries around edges, spilling out over edges of
basket, from left to right.
10. Fill any empty spaces with caspia.
11. Tuck in Spanish moss to cover any exposed foam.
12. Wrap sides of basket with ribbon. Twist ends together at front
right.
13. Make a bow with 5 loops and two 10" tails. Tie with wire at center
and wrap wire on a 4" wooden pick. Insert pick through side of basket
into foam.
