PAPER
TWIST DOLL WITH DRIED FLOWERS
|
|
1.
Cut paper twist into the following lengths:
-
Two 12" strips for the sleeves and arms
-
One 12" piece to cover the head; and one piece to cover the bottom of the
bottle
-
Nine 8" strips for the dress
-
Six 7" strips for the slip |
 |
| 2.
Cut off the bottom of the plastic bottle for a 6 3/4 tall bottle. |
 |
| 3.
Untwist all of the strips except one 12" piece for the arms. Round out
the bottom edge of all the 8" strips for the dress. |
 |
| 4.
Bottom. To cover the bottom edge of the bottle, spread tacky glue on
one piece of paper twist and fold a piece over the bottom edge of the bottle
to cover part of both the inside and outside of the bottle. |
 |
| 5.
Head. To cover the ball with paper twist for the head, spread tacky
glue over the middle of one 12" piece of paper twist. Place the ball in
the middle of this piece and smooth the paper twist over it. One good side
is needed for the face. Leave the ends of the paper twist open. |
 |
| 6.
Put head on the bottle. Place head over bottle and push down slightly
to form a dent in the ball where the bottle will go. Lift off and squirt
some tacky glue in the dented spot. Place head back on bottle. Twist some
wire around the neck to help hold head in place. |
 |
| 7.
Slip. Using hot glue, join all six of the 7" strips together side by
side. Place over the head and gather around the neck. Use wire to hold
in place. |
 |
| 8.
Dress. Using hot glue, take the 8" strips with rounded bottoms and
glue them one at a time around the neck edge of the doll, overlapping as
you go. Leave some length at the top edge to fold down into a collar. |
 |
| 9.
Arms and Sleeves. Join the long edges of the 12" sleeve piece with
hot glue to form a tube. Fold a hem in the ends approximately 1/2" on each
side. Thread the untwisted 12" piece of paper twist through the sleeve
and center it. Twist sleeve once in the middle. Attach sleeve to the angel
with hot glue, placing the twisted part of the sleeve in the center of
the doll's back just below the neck. |
 |
| 10.Hair.
Wrap jute around the head to form hair, using hot glue to hold it in place. |
 |
| 11.Wings.
Make a bow shape with several strands of raffia, and tie in the center
with another piece of raffia. Glue bow to the center of the back, over
the sleeve. |
 |
| 12.Halo.
Braid together nine strands of raffia and tie the ends to form a circle.
Glue circle to the top of the head. |
 |
| 13.Bouquet.
Make a small bouquet of dried flowers and tie with a small piece of ribbon. |
 |
| 14.
Bring the doll's hands together in front and glue the bouquet to the hands. |
